The compound of the farm is between the river Fulda and the river Ahna in the neighbourhood Wesertor. On the 4500 m2 big open space there is a meadow orchard, a vegetable garden and sheep, pigs, rabbits and bees. The entrance is at the old tanner houses, behind the Ahnabrücke at the Schützenstraße 2. All people who want to work, garden, take care of animals or build are welcome. Here you can play, cook and eat together, climb and tinker. At the end of the week on Friday, there is a bonfire. Your visit is for free and you won’t need to register before coming.

Opening hours:

Tuesday and Friday from 3pm to 6pm for children older than 6 years.

Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm for children under 6 years in company of an adult.

Thursday from 3pm to 6pm open access with the “Bücherwurm”.

Saturday from 3pm to 6pm for families. 

A special map which shows more than 600 interesting locations for children and teenagers. Aside from online access, you can also buy a printed version for 3€ at the town hall, in bookshops and in “Kassel Marketing” locations. 

They offer sports such as soccer, basketball, free running, dancing street soccer and more throughout the year. There are workshops and counselling for problems of everyday life as well.

FRESH is an offer for children and teenagers for counselling. You will get support for family or school difficulties or other problems you would like to talk about. You can find general information concerning alcohol and drugs and learn about social, legal or health aspects of alcohol and drug consumption as well. You will be able to talk about your life and receive help confidentially.

Since 1958, the Geschwister-Scholl-Haus is an institution of the children’s and teenager’s department of the youth welfare office in Bettenhausen. They offer numerous activities, counselling, help with homework and a place to meet for children and teenagers from age 6 to 21. There are group activities as well as time for private activities. There is also a sports hall as well as an outside area. In the sports hall you can participate in different sports.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 3pm to 9pm

Midnight sports in the sports hall of the Joseph-von-Eichendorf-school: Friday 10:30pm to 12:30am (for teens from 14 to 21)

A Meeting Point for girls between 6 and 19 years. Here you can do your homework, listen to music, chat and play games.  There are also film presentations, cooking, self-defence and parties. 

The Youth Centre offers leisure time activities as well as sports and games such as basketball, billiard, ping-pong and board games. There are also group activities and workshops.

Haus_der_Jugend

 

The Haus der Jugend offers free rooms for societies, organisations and initiatives. There is room for dancing, theatre, seminars, self-defence and exhibitions. There is also an inexpensive café as well as the possibility to use a pc and internet for free.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 10pm

There are different offers for children and teenagers. For example, there is to possibility to play jugger. The participation on the trainings is for free. On the “freaky Friday” girls between 8 and 14 years can meet to talk, bake, cook, play or go on trips. In the jumpers workshop, boys and girls can learn to work with tools.

The location offers cultural workshops for teenagers. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm to 8pm you can take part in a rap - and record workshop. Here, teenagers can write songs under instructions, record them or try themselves on instruments. Friday from 3 pm to 7pm there are workshops for graffity and painting. Additionally, the association organises workshops on musical youth culture.

There are different offers for adults as well as children. You can go on a guided tour with an explanation of the herbs and flowers, exchange herbs, paint, wattle, collect mushrooms and bake bread. You can profit from cut entrance fees and some of the events will only ask for a donation. Additionally, there are holiday programs.

The Learning Farm is an offer of Diakonisches Werk Region Kassel.

A meeting area for girls to paint, play, relax, meet with friends and do their homework. It´s named after Malala Yousafazai, a child rights activist from the Swat valley in Pakistan. This place is a multicultural place where girls can be among themselves. They can also find support and company in every situation. Malala offers leisure facilities on different topics witch can be found on their website.

In the Kesselschmiede in Rothenditmold you can find the skateboard club “Mr. Wilson”. For a monthly membership fee of 15€ you can use the skate hall. Friday, Saturday and Sunday the entrance fee for only a day is 5€, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday it's free.

Besides, the youth centre organizes festivities, tournaments and excursions. There is also the possibility to get help for problems of everyday live such as job problems or problems at home.

The Youth Centre offers an Open Space for all who wish to meet. Furthermore, there is the possibility to cook, tinker, go swimming, dance, play soccer or use the internet. There is also an adventure playground in the Quellenhofstraße 62a. At this big outside area, you can play or do sports such as soccer, cycling, rollerblades, gymnastics or handicrafts. Sometimes there are also excursions. 

The Youth Club offers the opportunity to play ping-pong and darts or to meet other people.

Wednesday and Friday 5pm to 10pm for teenagers

The association offers circus projects for teenagers between 10 and 18 years to participate in a circus at different locations throughout the city. For example, at the “Wilden Warte” there is a program called “Salto Integrale” for children and teenagers age 9 to 14. All children, especially refugees or the disabled, are welcome.

Here you can see about 200 animals, for example donkeys, pot-bellied pigs, llamas, parrots, storks, flamingos and small monkeys. The zoo on the Rammelsberg is located on the side of the Wilhelmshöher Allee. After the ICE-Station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe turn right into the Kunoldstraße. From there the zoo is signposted.

The entrance is free.

In February the zoo closes at 5 pm, in November at 4 pm. In December and January the zoo is closed.
